Mastering Light for Wild Bird Photography
We cannot control nature, but we can understand the relationship between environmental conditions and the final image we envision. As bird photographers, we’re often at the mercy of the elements when it comes to making an aesthetically pleasing image. This masterclass aims to shift the narrative of the age-old ‘bad light’ gripe by delivering a fundamental understanding of the various types of light and how we can work with the environmental conditions at hand instead of being at war with them. From exposure theory to camera settings to basic photo editing, the individual workflows under varying lighting conditions shall be covered. Adverse lighting conditions can be fertile grounds for creative imagery, various techniques to explore these options will be covered as well. Artificial light sources shall also be considered. This masterclass will not cover multi-flash set-ups.
