Pole-to-pole birding onboard expedition cruise ships
The Arctic and Antarctica, the popular bucket list destinations for many, attract birders from all over the world for unique bird species and populations. The Arctic is seasonally populated by a variety of waterfowls, seabirds, and shorebirds. When midnight sun is hanging above the horizon, thousands if not millions of Dovekie, Atlantic puffin, Northern fulmar, terns and jaegers arrive to raise their young. There are two major groups of birds living in Antarctica: those that glide and those that slide. The gliders are tubenoses and include albatrosses, petrels, and storm petrels. The sliders are penguins, the iconic birds of Antarctica. There are stunning birding destinations in polar and sub-polar regions only accessible by boat. Lancy Cheng, an expedition guide, is going to share his hot birding experience in the cold waters.
