Creating FIREFINCH App – Facts. Fun. Feathers.
RESCHEDULED TO MAY 25th
What do you get when you put an ornithologist, photographer and two tech-savvy brothers in a room? A very quiet room. But four years down the line this team has produced a ground-breaking new birding app, called FIREFINCH. Featuring nearly 10% of the planet’s birds, FIREFINCH is a celebration of the wild landscapes of Africa, a declaration of our shared love for birds, and a fireside recap of a day spent in the bush with friends. Join author and artist Faansie Peacock for a humorous behind-the-scenes look at the app, and the journey to its creation. We’ll talk about different subspecies of birders, giant vision boards, painting 5000 images, the colour of baby poo, extinct penguins, how best to stay awake in Skype sessions, sinking in Zambian swamps, celebrity marketing, drowning expensive recording equipment in oceans, and a little about birds
