Towards more ethical birding: A conversation about how we can limit the negative impacts of birding

2493 2493 people viewed this event.

Etienne Marais will present on birding ethics and looks at a variety of ways in which we as birders can reduce negative impacts on the birds we pursue and want to photograph. The massive growth in birding and bird photography can only serve to increase negative impacts of birding, particularly on localised and rare species. The Webinar focusses not only on disturbance of habitats by birders, but explores issues of sound playback, resource utilisation, pollution and major environmental impacts of birding travel. It also explores the importance of the way in which birders interact with local communities who live in areas where special birds are found.
