Photographing wild birds is just photography with a few special challenges. Derek will introduce wild bird photography from this perspective, and examine it based on some of the core principles involved. He will discuss the key elements that help you create good to great photographs, covering everything from light to behaviour, and the art telling stories with images. Much of the presentation will be given as a set of tips to help you improve. It is based on an upgrade to the Photography Tips for Novice Birders that Derek did last year on Learn-the-Birds.
For those who don’t know Derek, his photos of birds in particular have appeared widely in magazines, books, museum exhibits and displays, mobile apps, blogs and online magazines, Wikipedia, and been used by artists as reference material. They have received more than 12 million views on Flickr. He will bring some of his experience to bear on helping you get started or improve your bird photography.
